Sunflower Urban Farms is Growin' (bad pun intended!)

This has been an exciting winter for us. Sean and I have been taking the Land Stewardship Project's Farm Beginnings Class to prepare to take our urban farming to the next level. We have been doing some serious thinking and planning about how to focus our business, what we really love to do, and what we want to do in the future. All of this means that the coming growing season will be our best yet (we hope)!

As in the past, we are focusing on growing the most healthy, robust organic heirloom tomato plants possible, offering amazing, taste-tested varieties. New this year will be the addition of heirloom squash plants!

We will also be selling at the West Side Farmer's Market, offering heirloom tomato and squash plants, heirloom tomatoes, and a new signature line of organic jams and marmalades we have been working on over the past couple years! We will be premiering our strawberry-cognac, strawberry ginger, raspberry lavendar, and spiced plum jams, along with the savory heirloom tomato marmalade (that is dynamite on grilled cheese, if I do say so myself!)

If all goes as planned, we will be adding some layer hens to the farm and will have farm-fresh eggs too.

It will be a busy season, but I hope to blog more often! Stay tuned- I'll be asking for tomato variety requests very soon!!
