Sunflower Urban Farms is a new, urban farm that utilizes chemical-free, sustainable growing practices. This is our fifth year growing fresh produce, our second year as urban farmers, and our first year selling at markets. We grow using bio-intensive methods on approximately 1/10th of an acre in the West 7th neighborhood in St. Paul, MN. We focus primarily on heirloom vegetables and exciting varieties that you may not find at the grocery store. We also grow vegetables used in cultural cooking and will be growing Thai Bitter Melon, Hmong Red Cucumbers, and Caribbean Red Peppers, among others this year.
We are a tiny farm on a very small scale, but we produced over 1100 lbs of fresh vegetables and fruits last year.This year, we have more land in production and hope to have a successful beginner’s experience at the Midtown Farmer’s Market and selling directly to neighbors who may not have access to fresh, healthy food.
